This Chicago Tribune article speaks for itself.  I can’t think of a better illustration of why forensic DNA consultants are important for the defense!

    Thank you. It was interesting that the data were open to more than one interpretation, according to on person quoted in the article.

      Thanks for checking out the post Chris. Another weak point in DNA conclusions is when inclusions/exclusions depend on an assumption of the number of contributors to a mixture, and that assumption is not clearly stated in the report.

    Very interesting article and clearly shows the importance of a strong and complete DNA profile whenever possible. That obviously starts with a good sample! Forensic DNA is here to stay and will play a significant role in almost every case from now on, so getting it right is essential.
